QR codes by use Gravestones and memorials
QR codes for gravestones and memorial plaques
A memorial code opens the story of a life: photos, the eulogy, a guestbook. It has to keep working for decades, outdoors, which changes how it should be made.
Free and static: paste your link, download SVG or PNG, no sign-up, never expires. Want art, a link you can change later and scan counts? Make it an art code.
QR codes for gravestones and memorials: the facts
- What the code holds
- A link to a memorial page: photos, the obituary, a video or a guestbook. Static codes print that link itself, so the page address must stay the same for as long as the stone stands.
- Print size
- Usually a 2 in square plaque, engraved or printed on ceramic or stainless steel.
- Scan distance
- Visitors stand 1 to 3 ft away, so 2 in is enough.
- What breaks it
- Fading and weather: paper and vinyl stickers fade in a year or two. Use a plaque rated for outdoor use (ceramic, porcelain or stainless steel). Laser etching straight onto granite gives low contrast and often does not scan.
- Good to know
- The code only works while the page it opens exists. Choose a memorial page with a permanent or prepaid plan, or a family-owned web address renewed for many years. Many cemeteries also have rules about attachments; ask first.

Questions
How long will a QR code on a headstone last?
The code itself lasts as long as the plaque: decades for ceramic or stainless steel outdoors. What matters more is that the web page it opens stays online.
Static or dynamic for a memorial?
Static if the memorial page address is permanent: it depends on nobody. Dynamic if the page may move, so the family can re-point it; our codes keep redirecting even if the plan is cancelled.
Can it be engraved into the stone?
Engraving straight into granite rarely gives enough contrast to scan. A small ceramic or metal plaque set into the stone works much better.
Is it allowed in every cemetery?
Not always. Some cemeteries limit what can be attached to a headstone. Check with the cemetery or the monument maker before ordering.
